J.-C., \u00e0 de rares exceptions pr\u00e8s. Les colons doriens venus de Sparte s\u2019y install\u00e8rent ensuite. Leur chef, Th\u00e9ra, donna son nom \u00e0 l\u2019\u00eele. La ville fut construite sur le versant occidental de la montagne appel\u00e9e Mesa Vouno et devint le centre urbain contr\u00f4lant l\u2019ensemble de l\u2019\u00eele. Elle ne poss\u00e9dait pas de remparts, sa position naturellement fortifi\u00e9e la rendant inutile, et \u00e9tait reli\u00e9e par une route \u00e0 ses deux ports, Oia (aujourd\u2019hui Kamari) et Elefsina (aujourd\u2019hui Perissa). Tr\u00e8s peu de vestiges de la phase initiale de la ville ont \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9couverts. Apr\u00e8s le IVe si\u00e8cle av. J.-C., la cit\u00e9 se d\u00e9veloppa sous l\u2019influence des Ptol\u00e9m\u00e9es, souverains grecs du royaume d\u2019\u00c9gypte. Elle fut ensuite occup\u00e9e par les Romains. La ville d\u00e9clina apr\u00e8s le IIIe si\u00e8cle apr. J.-C. et fut abandonn\u00e9e apr\u00e8s le IXe si\u00e8cle. Les fouilles men\u00e9es par des arch\u00e9ologues allemands et grecs commenc\u00e8rent en 1896.<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><span style=\"font-family: Arial, sans-serif;\"><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Comment s\u2019y rendre : en <a href=\"http:\/\/carhub.gr\/\">voiture<\/a> depuis Kamari, \u00e0 pied depuis Kamari (en suivant soit la route, soit le sentier menant \u00e0 Zoodohos Pigi \u2013 les deux partent du m\u00eame point), ou \u00e0 pied depuis Perissa (le sentier est ombrag\u00e9 presque jusqu\u2019\u00e0 midi).
